Following on from the highly successful day-long festival in Bromley, BASBWE is proud to announce the first details of their next festival, to be held in the stunning surroundings of Shrewsbury School. The day will run from 9.30am through to 9pm and Artistic Director Maria Eglinton is organising a day packed full of music making, performance opportunities, concerts, masterclasses and more!

Glyn Williams M.I. and Sterling are Festival Sponsors

Glyn Williams Musical Instruments and Sterling are pleased to be supporting the BASBWE Festival in December 2011 and providing the services of internationally recognised euphonium soloist and clinician David Thornton who will give a masterclass as well as performing as guest soloist in the gala concert. Glyn will also be present with his trade stand giving delegates the opportunity to view and try out new instruments with an emphasis on the Sterling range.

Ellerby Euphonium Concerto

David will be giving a performance of Martin Ellerby's exciting Euphonium Concerto in the evening’s gala concert, accompanied by Glebe Symphonic Winds. One of the most challenging works in the repertoire, it is scored in four movements: Fantasy, Capriccio, Rhapsody and Diversions. The Rhapsody is the emotional heart of the work and is dedicated to the memory of euphoniumist Luis Maldonado, the cumination of the movement also includes a reference to the concerto by Joseph Horovitz, Ellerby's former teacher.

BASBWE are also proud to be able to announce that there will be World and UK premières from composers such as Kit Turnbull, Simon Dobson, Steven Bryant and Peter Meechan as well as featuring some lesser known works from the repertoire.

There will also be a good selection of trade standsat the conference – just in time to get your Christmas gifts along with an on-site instrument repairer, Eddie Ashton.
